Hilda Dyer Caldwell of Benton died Wednesday, November 18, 1998. She was 85. She was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church and a 1934 graduate of Benton High School. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a hotel manager while living in Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Caldwell; her parents, Jetty Walter and Hattie James Dyer; and one brother, Bert Dyer.
Survivors include a sister, Jacqueline Vance of Benton; a sister-in-law, Ruby Cumbie of Harrah, Oklahoma; three nieces, Del Rae Stump of Texas, Brenda Richardson of Benton, and Mary Ann Wiggins of Phoenix, Arizona; and one nephew, Bill Cumbie of Harrah, Oklahoma.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gravel Hill Baptist church with the late Rev. Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
Sonny Basse, Todd Fortner, Bert James, John Vance, Willie Vance and D. L. Ziegler will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Conley Culpepper, Earl James, Pete McAtee, Dale Shell and J. T. Shell. Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Ashby Funeral Home.
