Cheryl K. Donaldson, 63, of Wayland, passed away on Saturday, March 24 from a short battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10:00AM at Green Mound Church of God in Wayland, Iowa, with Pastor Nancy Balldosier offciating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 30 from 4 – 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland. Cheryl will be cremated following visitation. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.

Cheryl was born January 23, 1955, the daughter of Glenn and Wilma (Arbogast) Sinn in Washington County, Iowa. She attended school in Brighton and Washington. Cheryl lived in Brighton, then the Mt. Pleasant area, and spent the last 10 years in rural Wayland. She was married to Edward M. Polton on June 26, 1971, they had three children: Tracie, Krista and Todd. Cheryl and Ed later divorced. Cheryl married Larry B. Donaldson on May 29, 1999 at Cottonwood Church in Wayland, Iowa. She worked for HON Industries for 15 years, then did direct sales until retiring due to her health. Cheryl loved spending time with her family, gardening, bird watching, going to garage sales, flea markets and auctions. She also loved watching old movies with Larry.

Survivors include her husband Larry, Cheryl's children: Tracie (Bob), Krista (Ron), Todd (Tracy), she was also blessed with four step children: Heather (Luke) Applegate, Denise (Matt) Wheelock, Rebekah Donaldson, Jeremy Donaldson, one brother Chuck (Janice) Sinn, one sister Terri (Larry) Essary, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and her grandchildren: Samantha (Cody) Bittner, Steven Bittner, Jonathan Gerleman, Toben Polton, Carter Schmidt Polton, Tytan Polton, Kayleigh and Hannah Applegate, Timothy, Madeleine, Henry and Brendan Wheelock, Charlize Garrett, Behren Donaldson and Juniper Malott. Cheryl was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Khloe, Evan, David, Londyn, Liliana, Jesse and Allia.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Saundra Shafer, Patricia Talley, her grandparents, a niece, a nephew, a son-in-law David, and her mother-in-law Elsie Campbell.
