Added at request of family -Ivins, UT - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her family on June 30, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sherry was born on April 20, 1948 to Fred Perry and Betty Lou Barney Jackson. She is the second of seven children. Sherry lived in many cities in Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, Ohio and Texas, but Bountiful, Utah was always considered home. Sherry spent each year of her Jr. High and High School in a different school but graduated her senior year from Bountiful High School in 1966. She married the love of her life Lyman Kapple Peterson in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple on November 17, 1967. Together, they moved to Ivins, Utah in 1979, where they continued living and raising their children for the past 30 years. Sherrys passion in life was her family. She also had a love for music. She studied music most of her life in many different places. She loved playing the piano, listening to music, and teaching. A love she has passed on to her six children. Sherry also enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, people watching and life in general. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in several callings, including; young womens president and advisor, primary president and teacher, visiting teacher, and pianist and organist. Professionally she worked at Utah State Health Department for 22 years as the personnel and financial director over 5 county areas. She retired in 2006 and became the financial force behind Amber Lyn Chocolates, a business her husband founded. Sherry was preceded in death by her father Fred Jackson and her grandson Zadock Daniel Peterson. She is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Lyman Peterson; her children: Benjamin (Stacy) Peterson, Duke (Kimberly) Peterson, Micah (Michelle) Peterson, Adam (Robyn) Peterson, Amber (Eric) Peterson Cook, and Isaac (Lindee) Peterson; her mother Betty Lou Barney Jackson; siblings: Dennis (Albey) Jackson, Connie (Howard) Jackson Madsen, Randy (RaeAnn) Jackson, Rick (Cori) Jackson, Kim (Fiona) Jackson, Jenny/Susie (Dan) Jackson Biggers twenty-five grandchildren and many other family and friends. Sherry was a very loving and devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Ivins LDS Main Street Chapel, 15 N. Main, Ivins, UT. A visitation will be held Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT., and Friday, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be in the Enterprise Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
