Benno L. Bernhard, 63, of 1624 Central St., died unexpectedly Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Oshkosh on May 22, 1907, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bernhard, and was married here to Esther Bartelt on June 25, 1942.

Mr. Bernhard had been employed 43 years at Universal Foundry Co.; and was a member of its 25-year-club, National Management Association and on the board of directors of its credit union. He served with the Air Force overseas during World War IT, and was a member of Che local chapter of VFW.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Doreen Quant, Oshkosh; one brother, George Bernhard, Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Jungwirth and Mrs. Rose Matschi, Oshkosh, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at Poklasny Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Colle officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. - Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-9 p.m. Prayer service Thursday will be at 7 p.m.
