Elizabeth "Betty" Fox was born to Martha Wallace Phillips and Robert Rowe Phillips in Kansas City, KS on January 26, 1948. Due to the nature of the oil business, the family moved around and Betty was able to experience different areas in her youth. They lived in Kansas City, Houston and Denver, where she attended Colorado University, before putting down permanent roots in Oklahoma City.
Betty married and had one child, her sunshine, Amy Beth, whom she loved and spoiled. Amy gave Betty her only grandchild, Clayton. Oh how she adored this boy. In her love for Clayton, those around her could see how proud she truly was to be his grandmother.
She worked for the Corporation Commission and various attorneys before setting in at Midland Financial from where she would eventually retire.
In her career, Betty made a name for herself as a paralegal; she was the best in the business.
During retirement, Betty took care of her aging parents, as well as hustling her oil and gas leases, and tending to the family trust. She could wheel and deal flawlessly. It was one of her many gifts.
Betty always enjoyed her pets, but none more than her beloved Tasha and Gentry. She would, also, learn to live with cats after moving in with Amy and her herd.
After moving in with Amy, Betty enjoyed her shows... crime shows, game shows, the news. She enjoyed them so, much that she filled the DVR with Law and Order and The Price is Right with no knowledge of how she had recorded all of them. While enjoying her shows she would, also, enjoy her sweet snack... chocolate, cookies, and vanilla ice cream.
We know that Betty enjoyed her cars, and finally acquired the roadster she dreamed of. She enjoyed her music, some of which is being shared here today.
She is described as fun loving, the life of the party. She loved going to Vegas with her sister who was her lifelong best friend and confidant. And, having a special knack for black jack. She was an avid Sooners fan always cheering them on. Betty cheered for the Thunder as loudly as she did OU.
She is said to be a woman of taste with a flair for nice clothes and fashion and Coach purses.
Through her meticulous organization she was able to build her dream kitchen and remodel and redecorate her home with her dream furniture. The beautifully remodeled home was then adorned with Betty's original artwork.
Betty Fox will be remembered for so many things. Likely, none of them more than her generosity. She gave to so many. She gave to charity, loved ones, strangers, even her mail man. Betty always went out of her way to make others smile. She will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Martha Wallace Phillips, father,Robert Rowe Phillips and her best friend and sister, Janey P. Winn.
Betty is survived by her daughter Amy Beth Fox Johnson, her only grandson, Clayton, and Josh Juline Bradford, future son-in-law.
She also, leaves behind dear friends Kerri, Cece, and Dee.
