Mr. Jimmy Lee Hawkins was born in Huntsville Hospital on May 20, 1966, to the late Willie Louis Douglas and Mary Hawkins Douglas. Jimmy passed away March 22, 2018 at Huntsville Hospital. Jimmy confessed his life to Christ at an early age, in the summer of 1986. He later joined Liberty Primitive Baptist Church. Jimmy, "Smiley" to some was known for his infectious smile, his bluntness and his love of cars and racing. He enjoyed cutting grass, tilling gardens for people, towing cars and helping all his friends in the neighborhood. He also had a passion for cooking out. Jimmy was always secretly recording family members doing funny things. He would then play it back as entertainment for everyone. He was an avid picture taker of his family and excited to share the pictures with you. Jimmy retired form the National Guard after 20 years of service. After 28 years of service at Limestone Correctional Facility, Jimmy retired this past December. Jimmy loved and cherished his family, he leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 35 years, Linda Hawkins; six children, Justin (Kiaria), Montereous (Pauline) Collier, Jessica (Junior), Justine (Tauren), Jasmine (Chris) and Jimmy, Jr.; grandchildren, Jayla, Jesselyn and Justyce Hawkins, Jakari, William, Londyn and Layna Collier, Jeremiah Warren, Kayden Jones and Jordyn Langford; brother, Willie "Bran" (Sharron) Hawkins; sisters, Sophia (Otis) Moore and Shantina Batts; aunts, Beulah Dillard, Linda (Oscar) Wesley, Sue (Ray) Kennemer; uncles, Clarence "Leon" (Mary) Hawkins, John Douglas and Leo (Irene) Douglas; brothers-in-law, Eli (Charlie Mae), Randy (Debra) and Garry (Erica) Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Florine Battle, Hester Cross, Priscilla (Richard) Cross, Elaine Sullivan and Kenya (Marcus) Cotton; special friends, Nichols Wesley and Calvin Frye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Liberty Primitive Baptist Church ( 268 Burruss Road Berkley, AL 35748) with Elder Jonnie Jones officiating. Interment will be in Baldwin Cemetery in Berkley, AL. Mr. Hawkins will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 and 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Royal Funeral Home.
