Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 26, 2018, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Ben Corbitt of Faith Tabernacle, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Poole was born December 7, 1949, in Dumas to Preston and Peggy Poole. He graduated from Pampa High School and soon after, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. After he returned home, George was a grocery stocker at Furr’s Grocer Store and Frank’s Grocery Store for many years. Most recently, he served as security guard at the VFW. George ran the VFW slot car store for several years, helping many of the teenage boys. He was very involved in the VFW where he served on the rifle team. He enjoyed motorcycles, and always followed in his vehicle behind the VFW motorcycle team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing pool. George loved all his dogs, especially “Sassy”. He loved all his brothers at the VFW Post, as well as all his family.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Poole and wife Marsha of Pampa, and Michael Poole of Tennessee; his mother, Peggy Poole of Pampa; a stepdaughter, Suzie Goodwin of Shamrock; a brother, Bob Poole and wife Nancy of Pampa; two grandchildren, Dallan Poole and wife Jessica of White Deer, and Holland Poole of Pampa; one aunt, Earline Starnes of Pampa; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
George was preceded in death by his father, William Preston Poole; and a brother, Jimmie Poole.
