She was born August 14, 1909 in Princeton, IN to Arthur R. and Cora Wilson Nelson Townsend. Helen was a 1928 graduate of Princeton High School, received her B.S. in 1933 from Indiana State University and earned a Masters degree from Purdue University in 1944. She was a Food Service Director at Purdue from 1942 until 1976. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, camping, hiking, reading, and cooking.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lois DeCoursey. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
