renda Deatte (Newman) Sargent, age 56, went to meet her heavenly Father on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

She was a longtime resident of Biloxi, having moved to Ocean Springs after marrying her husband in 2003. She was a 1979 graduate of Biloxi High School. In her youth she was very active in the St. John Catholic Youth Organization in Biloxi. She remained active with CYO as an adult advisor for many years inspiring many through her faith and love for Christ. Brenda was employed for 25 years with the Diocese of Biloxi Office of Youth Ministry where she touched the lives of many youth throughout South Mississippi. She was an integral part of organizing the annual Catholic youth conventions held at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum each March. She will be sadly missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband James “Jim” Sargent; paternal grandparents Chester and Gertrude (Fergonis) Newman; maternal grandparents Lawrence “Dee” and Elenora (Swansine) Previto; father-in- law, Richard Sargent; and her brother-in- law Eddie Sargent.

Survivors include her parents Wiley and Susan (Previto) Newman; sister, Gertrude Newman; brother, Wiley (Ester) Newman; niece, Olivia Newman; mother-in- law, Mary Sargent; sister-in- law, Julie Sargent; brothers-in- law, Rick, Billy and Bobby Sargent; and several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. She is also survived by her girls (cats) Izzy and Chelsea.

A visitation will be held at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church, in Biloxi, on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 10:30am to 2pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2pm. Internment in Biloxi City Cemetery will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Diocese of Biloxi Office of Youth Ministry.
