Nell was born on July 3rd, 1927 on Garland Mountain in Waleska to the late Andrew Garland and Willie Mae Noland Garland.
She was a humble, caring woman who selflessly gave her time and resources to others. One of her greatest joys was being with her family. She possessed a strong work ethic and always enjoyed helping others.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Venard Cochran; her brothers Roy Garland, Floyd Garland; her sisters Alice Garland Debord, Kate Garland Rollins Pope, and Minnie Garland Debord and one great grandson, Josiah Drake Caldwell.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris West and Daniel of Cartersville; Ronda Davis of Lawrenceville, her two grandchildren, Dawn Greene and her husband Brad of Cartersville; Amanda Caldwell and her husband Chad of Roswell; 6 great-grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, and Addie Greene; Ashley, Luke and Jacob Caldwell. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 19th at 11:00 am from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with John Agnew officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.
Pallbearers will be Brad Greene, Chad Caldwell, Matthew Greene, Karl Davis, Terry Debord, and Josh Hitt. The family will receive friends on Sunday February 17th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home.
