US Congressman. Elected as a Republican to represent Ohio's 20th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1899 to 1901. He was defeated when he ran as an Independent Republican in 1900. After studying law at Kenyon College, he was admitted to the bar in Ohio and became an attorney in Medina County. He was elected as the Mayor of Medina from 1886 to 1890, served as a Probate Judge from 1892 to 1897, and again from 1924 to 1932.
