ANNIE RUTH MONTGOMERY
September 08, 1937 ~ March 20, 2018

Annie Ruth Montgomery, 80, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma passed away March 20, 2018 in Choctow Memorial Hospital in Hugo, Oklahoma.

She was born September 8, 1937 in Stamps, Arkansas to John Aubrey and Lilly Addis (Nix) Hamilton. She was raised in Stamps and as an adult she moved with her family to Oklahoma to be near her husbands folks.

She worked for a time at White & Co. as a seamstress and this led to a love for sewing which was one of her hobbies though out her life. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping when the chance arose.

She loved being with her family and big family gatherings. As a young lady she and her sister Mollie and brother Bill had a singing group and preformed all around the area. She played the gueiter very well as well as her brother Bill. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joel Thomas Montgomery Sr., a son and daughter-In-law, Joel Thomas Montgomery Jr. and Elizabeth Montgomery.

Four brothers, Grady Hamilton, Preston Hamilton, Bernard Hamilton and an infant brother. One sister also preceded her in death and she was Alene Strange. A brother -In-law, Pete Phillips also went to be with the Lord just a while before she did.

She is survived by a son, Tracy Montgomery and a daughter, Connie Easley both of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.She has two siblings that survive and they are Bill Hamilton and wife Sue of Bodcaw, Arkansas and Mollie Phillips of Stamps, Arkansas. She also leaves to mourn her passing a sister and brother -In-law Patsy and Jerry Baker of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

Left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Justin, James, Samuel and Clay. Two great grandchildren will also have fond memories of her and they are Courtney and Carson Montgomery. A number of other family and friends will remember her as she touched the lives of so many folks she knew.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the A.O. Smith Funeral Home Chapel With burial to follow at Sardis Cemetery in Stamps, Arkansas.

Friends may call on the family at a visitation for Ruth to be held Friday evening March 23, 2018 from 6:00 p,m, until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Brother Jamie Knighton will officiate the services.
