Glen Eugene Harrison, age 84, of Charleston passed away at 10:27 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Strawn officiating. A private burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Glen was born on August 19, 1933 in Humboldt, IL the son of Victor and Imogene (Schiller) Harrison. He married Betty Waddell on September 6, 1957. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1990.

Survivors include his daughters, Lorri James of Mattoon, IL and Valerie (Denny) Kingery of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Susan) James of San Diego, CA, Connor (Megan) James of Carbondale, IL, Cameron James of St. Petersburg, FL, Dustin Kingery of Locust Grove, GA and Clayton Kingery of Mattoon, IL. In addition to his wife, Glen was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and son-in-law, Mike James.

Glen was a graduate of Newton High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy. Glen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mattoon. He worked for Hulman & Company for over 30 years, and later worked as a courier for Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for over 10 years. Glen never met a stranger and his smile brightened everyone’s day. Glen enjoyed attending and supporting the many sporting events of his grandchildren. He loved and cherished his family and friends, and the many stories shared over his favorite ice cream. Glen will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
