Marion “Sonny” D. Payne, 78, passed away, Friday, March 16, 2018, at his home in rural Clay County, Nebraska.
Sonny Payne was born April 2, 1939, in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Raymond and Helen (James) Payne. He graduated from Lawrence High School. Sonny married Shirley on April 2, 1990 in Reno, Nevada. He farmed and worked construction. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, along with camping, fishing, and hunting.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Shirley Payne; children, Michael Fry and Marti (Dale) Spitz; grandchildren, Brett Kehn, TJ Sorsen, Chloe Fry, Zhoe Fry, and Kelsie Fry; brothers, Bill (Karla) Payne and Clarence (Alice) Payne; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen and Jack Achols; father, Raymond Payne; and brothers, Joe Payne and Earl Payne.
