Brad Williams Garner, 62, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 11, 1955 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Navine and Grant Garner.
He spent his early childhood in Ogden and later moved to Roswell, NM, and Atlanta, GA, where he graduated from Henderson High. He married the love of his life, Jill Whittier, on March 17, 1974. They eventually moved back to Ogden where they raised their five children. Brad and Jill celebrated their 44th anniversary just three days before his passing.
As a young adult, Brad held a variety of positions in the restaurant industry. He began working for Bintz Restaurant Supply in 1987 and later became vice president of sales and a part owner. He was passionate about his work and helping restaurant owners expand their businesses. He valued the relationships he built throughout his career, and many coworkers became lifelong friends.
Brad loved being outside, especially in the mountains. He looked forward to his yearly outings like Yellowstone with his wife each spring, deer camp with his uncles and friends, Labor Day campouts, and snowmobiling each winter with his children and grandchildren. He also loved spontaneous weekends exploring new places, and taking long drives to spot wildlife. Brad believed in making sure his memories outnumbered his dreams, and he and Jill enjoyed checking items off their bucket lists together.
He took great pride in his family, and his children, and grandchildren always knew he was their biggest fan. He and Jill loved having their family in their home each week for dinner and he enjoyed the chance to talk with each of his grandkids. He was even a good sport as they grew older and began to give him a run for his money on hot-topic debates. His smile, laugh, and famous hugs will be sorely missed.
Brad is survived by his wife, Jill, of Washington Terrace; five children: Chris (Michelle) Garner, of Roy, Lori (Greg) Parrish, of Preston, ID, Kellie (Ed) Horton, of Hooper, Chad (Marci) Garner, of Herriman, and Jamie (Adam) Booth, of Clearfield; 13 precious grandchildren; his mother, Navine Roberts; siblings: Jone (John) Olson, Jill Williams, Mary Ann Garner, Norm Sellers, and Melinda (Shane) Rollins; and his beloved dog, Finnegan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grant Garner; and his brother, Rod Garner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brad's honor to Primary Children's Medical Center or Ronald McDonald House, both of which played a critical role in the health of three of his grandchildren.
