Juanita Alvarado Charles, 92, of Silverton, known to family as “Abuela,” passed away on March 21, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Silverton Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Services are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

Juanita was born to Porfirio G. Alvarado and Francisca Alvarado in Laredo, Tamaulipas, on July 28, 1925. She was married to Rojelio Balderas Charles in 1940, and resigned to Silverton, Tx in 1954 from St. Paul, Minnesota. Juanita was a homemaker and loved to make empanadas and tamales for all of her family. Juanita was also a member of the Catholic Church in Silverton, where she eventually became a Crusillista, and lived it to the fullest.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Rojelio Charles; and children, Raul, Maria Alicia, Olivia, and Cipriano Charles.

She is survived by David Charles of Indiana, Roy and Mary Charles of Amarillo, and Servando and Luz Maria Charles of Slaton; 27 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren.
