In 1918 he filled out his draft card for WWI. He was living at 5646 Sheilds Ave in Chicago and was described as; Tall, Medium Build, Light blue eyes with dark brown hair. He was working as a Chicago Police Officer for the 11th Precinct.

By the 1930 census he seems to have had a second wife named Delia and was living at 6130 Rhodes Ave. in Chicago.
Dennis died three years later. His death certificate showed he was a retired Chicago Police officer and they were living in Lima, Allen Co, Ohio. He had carcinoma and heart issues.
His body was returned to IL and buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
