Born Feb. 25, 1938 in Woodlawn, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Carr McGee and Maude Alma Easter McGee. He was the husband of Barbara Bobbie Ann Walker McGee, his wife of almost 56 years.
Mr. McGee was a graduate of Elkton High School and a 1967 graduate of the University of Maryland, where he was a member of the marching band. He was employed as a bank executive for many years. He was a member of Smithsburg Methodist Church, where he had served on the finance committee and a member of the Glen Burnie Jaycees, as well as a life member of the Frederick Elks Lodge #684. He enjoyed history, politics, ancestry, playing golf, watching all sports, especially routing for his beloved Terps.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Walter James McGee (Cathey) of New Windsor, Jeffrey Alan McGee of Frederick, Kevin Lee McGee (Kate) of Gerrardstown, WV and Stephanie Ann Cutshall (Steve) of Frederick; grandchildren, Caitlin Burlett of Township of Ocean, NJ; Corey and Casey Cutshall, both of Frederick; siblings, Wanda Anastasi (Bob), Cora Rencher, Larry McGee (Kathy) and Sandi McGee (Steve); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dale Fry.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home-Libertytown 11802 Liberty Rd., Frederick on Friday, March 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
