A lifelong resident of Catawba County, he applied his skills in the furniture industry serving as a plant manager and factory worker. Mr. Hefner was a member of the First Advent Christian Church where he served as Head Trustee. During his life he was a member in the N.C. National Guard, president of the St. Stephens Optimist Club and president of the CrabApple Townhomes in his final years. Mr. Hefner enjoyed spending time with his wife, grandchildren and had a great passion for stock car racing. He spent five years battling cancer.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Lou Hefner; brother: Carl Brent Hefner; sister: Jan Hefner Blakley; children: Tara Hefner Bland, spouse Travis Bland, Brian McCree Hefner, spouse Nicole Lee Hefner; grandchildren: Marlee and Tucker Bland, Connor and Caroline Hefner; cousins and extended family.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at First Advent Christian Church, 1941 N. Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
