After graduating from high school, Joan worked as a librarian at Pryor Public Library. She married Charles Cobler June 19, 1961. Joan was a member of Church of Christ in Pryor. Joan enjoyed library activities, taking care of grandchildren, and scrapbooking.
She is survived by he husband Charles Cobler; daughters Kris Woods of Pryor and Dena McElroy of Stillwater; grandchildren Amanda Busky and significant other Mike Stevers of Pleasanton, Texas, Brandy Ross and husband Dustin of Glencoe, Oklahoma, Brittany Blackwell and significant other Colby Carroll of Pryor; great-grandchildren Kaini Stevers, Jonathan Stevers, Brooklyn Ross, Brynlee Ross, and Ryder Carroll; brothers Roger Francis and husband John of Tulsa, and Connie Jo Colbert of Claremore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jack Mapes and Jerry Mapes.
