Joan was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Clifford and Betty (Conner) Mapes on June 21, 1942. She passed away February 24, 2018 in Pryor. After graduating from high school, Joan worked as a librarian at Pryor Public Library. She married Charles Cobler June 19, 1961. Joan was a member of Church of Christ in Pryor. Joan enjoyed library activities, taking care of grandchildren, and scrapbooking.
She is survived by he husband Charles Cobler; daughters Kris Woods of Pryor and Dena McElroy of Stillwater; grandchildren Amanda Busky and significant other Mike Stevers of Pleasanton, Texas, Brandy Ross and husband Dustin of Glencoe, Oklahoma, Brittany Blackwell and significant other Colby Carroll of Pryor; great-grandchildren Kaini Stevers, Jonathan Stevers, Brooklyn Ross, Brynlee Ross, and Ryder Carroll; brothers Roger Francis and husband John of Tulsa, and Connie Jo Colbert of Claremore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jack Mapes and Jerry Mapes.
