Jim Beeson Barrett, 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born February 9, 1940 in Athens, WV, he was the son of the late James Russell and Thelma Odell (Collins) Barrett. He was the husband of 58 years to LaVerne N. (Crotty) Barrett whom he married April 12, 1959. Jim graduated from Princeton Senior High School, Princeton, WV in the class of 1958. He was a computer analyst for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg for more than 20 years. Upon his retirement he worked for TMX of Hagerstown and Corning of Greencastle. Jim was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg and a past member of both the Civil Air Patrol and the Lion’s Club. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Barrett of Graterford, PA and Steven J. Barrett and his wife Tammie of Chambersburg, two sisters, Sandra Rierson of Princeton, WV and Barbara Bird of Parkersburg, WV, four grandchildren, Tai C. Barrett, Ashley S. Barrett and his wife Tiffany, Jaimee S. Barrett and her husband Dustin and Keila Barrett, and seven great grandchildren. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg. His pastor, the Rev. John Kratz will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The viewing will be 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home. The Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg has been entrusted with the arrangements.
