Spc. Cajimat of Lahaina, Hawaii was born in Manila and his family moved to Maui when he was 3 years old. He enlisted in the Army immediately after graduating from Lahainaluna High School in 2005 and joined the Army right after. It was something he always wanted to do after the Sept. 11 attacks and he was deployed to Iraq in February. Jay was a shy person who loved the outdoors and surrounded himself with friends. When Jay was on the mainland for basic training, he asked his family to send him his favorite foods, Maui onion chips, li hing mui and macadamia nuts. After after the Army he had planned to return home and enroll in college to become a mechanical engineer. He was 20.
