Patrick Mason Philipps, 72, of Bloomfield, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2017 at Lyons Health and Living Center.

Born March 16, 1946 in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of Forrest Mason and Mary Ruth (Shouse) Philipps.

He was an electrical engineer for NSWC Crane retiring in 2007. After retirement he accepted a position with SAIC until 2016. He was a member of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a Scoutmaster for 14 years.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Rachel Spicer (Dustin) of Bloomfield; two sons, Joshua Philipps (Taylor) of Temecula, Calif. and Jacob Philipps of Mitchell; his grandchildren, Alyssa Spicer, Mackenzie Spicer, Mason Spicer, Michael Philipps, Piper Philipps, Taiven Philipps and Arista Philipps; two cousins, Carolyn Shouse and Boyd Hurst (Linda).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lorraine Philipps on March 20, 2015 and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jeff Rockey officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Romans Warrior Foundation.
