Henry's mother was Ida Louella (Brown) Traner. His father was Franklin H. Traner. Henry told Lorene Gunter (a niece by marriage through Agnes Marie (Fowler) Traner, that he took over as he was the oldest cooking and caring for the other family members after his mother died in 1916. At that time Henry and his dad owned a team of horses and worked in the early years around downtown Kansas City, Missouri and around the bluffs near the river. His family was very poor and they lived at one time in a tent in the park. Henry was married to: 1) Agnes Marie Fowler 2) Maude Weddle. Henry died at John Knox Village, Lees Summit. At one time Henry had a U.S. mail route in Williamsburg, Kansas, where he tried farming in the 1920s and 1930s. He couldn't even drive a car, but the other mailman showed him and the first thing he did was run up on a ridge. After moving back to Kansas City, Henry worked for the gas company. His last job was at the Grand Ave bank downtown. He washed windows. Everyone in the bank liked him. One day the president asked him if he would like a job in the bank, taking care of the mail. Also he would carry mail and money down to another bank. He was in his late 70's/80's at this time.
