Ellen Josephine Morgan was born on December 29, 1935 in Durango, Colorado to Claude Eldridge and Julia Maddox Eldridge.

Ellen began her professional nursing career at the age of 16 in Ontario, Oregon. She continued her education and received a nursing degree from Skagit Valley College. She worked at Northern State Hospital, Memorial Hospital, United General, and Skagit Valley Hospitals until retirement. She progressed to community education working through Skagit County EMS Council. At the EMS council she was instrumental in the development of Skagit County's CPR and First Aid programs. She was well known to the county first responders and in the local schools.

Ellen was a devout member of Christ the King Church in Burlington, WA.

Ellen married James Cleveland "Bud" Morgan in 1963. Together, Ellen and Bud had two sons, Bud Cleveland Morgan Sr. and Gregory Shane Morgan along with Bud's daughter Jackie Devries.

Ellen and Bud made their home in Burlington, WA, and enjoyed 35 wonderful years together.After Bud's passing, Ellen met and enjoyed many years of happiness with her partner James Whitworth. James preceded Ellen in death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Winnie Opal Nietsh and Ray Eldridge.

She is survived by siblings, Jim (Connie) Eldridge, Jack Eldridge, and Fay Hoyt. Her children, Bud Sr. (Shannon) Morgan, Gregory Shane (Rhonda) Morgan, and Jackie (John) Devries.

She was blessed with eight grandchildren. She has numerous great- grandchildren. She had a large extended family and many friends.

Ellen passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at her home while enjoying tending to her flower beds.

A time of viewing will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA. A graveside service will follow viewing at 2:00PM at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA.

Ellen supported the efforts of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
