Earl Dean Thomas, 70, lifelong resident of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:53 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Dean was owner and operator of Village Jeweler in Du Quoin. He had owned Thomas Electronics and had worked at MCA. He was a 1965 graduate of Du Quoin High School. Dean graduated from SIU-VTI with a degree in Electronic Tech. He was a member of Tamaroa Masonic Lodge. Dean was a United States Air Force veteran of Vietnam, serving with the Strategic Air Command stationed in Guam.

He was born May 31, 1947 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Joseph and Edna Maxine (Dale) Kirkpatrick Thomas.

He had been married to Margie Porter.

He is survived by one son - Brett Alan Thomas of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one half-brother , Gerald Thomas and one half-sister, Billie.

Military graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2017 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin, with the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Air Force conducting the service.

Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
