Bobby Earl Cannon of Dallas, won his battle with several recent health issues on Sunday, March 18, 2018 when he ran into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bobby was born in Lindale, Texas on August 5, 1934 and moved to Dallas when he was 10 years old.
Bobby attended Dallas public schools. He began his education at Trinity Heights Elementary, attended Boude Storey Junior High and graduated from Adamson High School.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Bobby became his family’s sole financial support at age 12 while attending school. Bobby began his career at Wyatt Food Stores that was eventually acquired by Kroger Food Stores. Bobby’s initial wages were paid from the Coke machine at the store. Bobby started as a package boy and advanced through the ranks up through store manager. Bobby ended his career as a merchandising representative. Bobby received numerous awards for outstanding customer service for his territory that covered the state of Texas. Bobby retired from Kroger in September 1994 and would summarize his career by saying, “I worked 50 years, 1 month, and a day.”
On June 20, 1953, Bobby wed LaJoyce Odell Morrison and they began their life in Dallas, Texas.
Bobby was drafted into the United States Army and was assigned to Ft. Hood for basic training. After basic training, Bobby and LaJoyce were transferred to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Bobby began his military career as an infantryman, but was soon assigned to the Military Police Corps of the United States Army. Bobby rose to the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged on September 9, 1958. Bobby and LaJoyce immediately packed their car and headed home to Dallas!
Bobby loved 4 things in this life: 1) His Savior, Jesus Christ, 2) His Family, 3) Texas A&M University, and 4) His 1997 AGGIE MAROON Lincoln Town Car that will escort his family behind the hearse to his burial.
Bobby is survived by the love of his life and wife of almost 65 years, LaJoyce Cannon of Dallas; his children, Cindi Cannon Cox of Dallas, Alan Cannon and his wife, Kaye, of College Station and Tamara Cannon Whitley and her husband, Bill, of Dallas; his grandchildren, Mark Cox and his wife, Lindsay, of Ft. Worth, Kyle Cox of Dallas, Katie Cannon of Seattle, Washington, Macie Cannon of College Station, and Nick Whitley of Dallas; his one and only great grandchild, William Cox of Ft. Worth; his brother, Tommy Cannon and his wife, Pat, of Allen; and his many extended family and friends.
