that the marriage record of William Erskine to Elizabeth Hemingway February 14, 1825 was this William, who married a second time (instead of the marriage of his son William, as previously supposed) a family history compiled by John F. Erskine says that William fathered a son by Elizabeth, but William died before the child was born.
