He was the husband of Wilma E. (Kline) Robertson, who survives. Jesse is also survived by four children, Karen Parker and her husband, Dan, Bonnie Edwards and her husband, Jarrett, Kris Robertson and his wife, Teresa, and Renee Staab and her husband, Jim. In addition he had six grandchildren, Nathaniel Edwards and his wife, Melissa, Timothy and Sam Robertson, and Ashley, Oliver and Nicholas Staab. His great-grandchildren are Micah, Ellie and Isaac Edwards. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and an exchange student "daughter" Lorraine Crook of Australia.
Jesse was preceded in death by sisters, Maude R. Robertson, Lucille L. Robertson, and Elaine Smith; brother, Morton P. Robertson; half-sisters, Ethel R. Jessen, Ruth R. Griffith, and Rosa R. Mendenhall; and half-brother, Russell L. Robertson.
Jesse received a Bachelors degree from Bridgewater College, a BD from Bethany Theological Seminary, and an MD from Medical College of Virginia. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren including Fraternity, Winston-Salem, N.C., Richmond, Staunton, and Bridgewater. He pastored several congregations in Shenandoah District. He served on numerous committees over the years at the local and district levels. He was a medical doctor in Augusta County for 25 years, completing his career as staff physician at the DuPont plant in Waynesboro, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Jeffery Carr officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, 420 College View Drive or Bridgewater Retirement Community, 302 N. Second St., both in Bridgewater, VA 22812.
