Scott Michael Richards, age 23 of Tipton and formerly of Elwood, died unexpectedly Friday, February 5, 2010 at his residence in Tipton.

He was born May 9, 1986 in Anderson, Indiana.

He formerly worked at Red Gold, Inc and Wabash Alloys Co. He was a 2004 graduate of Elwood Community High School where he was very active in the High School Baseball program. Following high school, he enlisted with the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas where soldiers departed to serve in Afghanistan. He was a member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. He was a loving father, an avid outdoorsman, NASCAR fan, Colts Football fan, and enjoyed working on cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include: Wife – Evette N. (Holmes) Richards of Tipton; 4 Daughters – Adrianna, Tessa, Caytee, Kileigh all at home; Parents – David L. and Jennifer L. (Townsend) Richards of Elwood; Brother – David A. Richards of Elwood; Maternal Grandmother – Judy Townsend of Elwood; Paternal Grandmothers – Karen “Sue” Richards of Elwood and Anita Wheeler of Elwood; Father-in-law – John Holmes of Sharpsville; Mother-in-law – Penny (Young) Clabaugh of Tipton; Brother-in-law – Kagen Holmes; Sister-in-law – Tawni Holmes; Aunts & Uncles – Kim (Joe) Hamon, Don (Cassie) Townsend, Mike (Kelli) Richards, and Cindy (Mike) Carmody; and several great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: Maternal Grandfather – Donald Townsend; Paternal Grandfather – David M. Richards; and Paternal Grandfather – George “Scott” Wheeler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scott Richards Children’s Fund through the funeral home.
