Son of Aline Pate and W. M. Dobbins. Husband of Janie Palmer; married April 21, 1957 in Minden, Webster Parish, LA

Grover Dobbins passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018 in Baton Rouge, LA.

He is remembered by his family and friends as a generous, faithful and kind man who lived a life that left him well-prepared to receive his eternal reward in Heaven. From humble beginnings on the family farm in Claiborne Parish, he prospered in his 38-year career as a Chemical Engineer, serving in various managerial roles with Kaiser Chemical and LaRoche Chemical at facilities in Baton Rouge and Gramercy, LA and in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Athens High School, then earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Louisiana Tech, followed by an M.S. in Chemical Engineering at LSU.

He was devoted to his wife of 60 years, Janie Dobbins, and his sons, their spouses and his grandchildren: Mark Dobbins, husband of Laura Blanton Dobbins and father of Marisa and Kyle Dobbins; Marty Dobbins, husband of Raquel Rivera Dobbins and father of Natasha and Ethan Dobbins; and Matthew Dobbins, husband of Danette Buller Dobbins and father of Kathryn and Sarah Dobbins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren M. Dobbins and his mother Aline Pate Dobbins, and his siblings: Drew, Erline, Chloie and L.H. Dobbins.

His faith journey was shared with the Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where he was a member for 60 years and proudly served as an usher. His rural upbringing instilled in him a love for the outdoors, as he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and pine farm cultivation and stewardship. He was an avid fan of LSU football, and was beloved by his sons' teammates on the LSU Track team.

A memorial service will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM, preceded by visitation at 10:00 AM. His mortal remains will be buried at Green Oaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge, while his spirit will live on in glory.
