C. Homer Womack, 97, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the SweetBriar Assisted Living, Dunbar. Born in St. Albans to the late Henry E. and Amanda Buzzard Womack, he was also preceded in death by his son, Barry Womack and two sisters, Rachel Williams and Hazel Reed; brother, Jennings F. Womack. He met the Lord Jesus Christ during his teenage years at Rehoboth Baptist Church in St. Albans. He later became an active member of Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans where he served as a Deacon and taught an adult Sunday school class, sung in the choir. He loved music and also enjoyed singing with the Barbershop Chorus and playing the banjo at home. Homer attended Fairview Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Albans High School, class of 1939. He attended Morris Harvey College. Before entering the Navy during World War II, he worked at the Carnegie Steel in South Charleston. After the war ended, he returned to St. Albans with his family. He went to work at Frankenbergers Men's Store in Charleston where he worked as a Personnel Manager for 32 years. When Frankenbergers Store closed, he worked in the same position at the Stone and Thomas Store in Charleston until he retired. He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge #58, A.F. & A.M. Surviving: wife of 75 years, Frances L. "Bet" Womack; daughter, Barbara L. Kline of Strongsville, Ohio; sisters, Phyllis Webster of St. Albans and Freda Maddox (Harold) of Scott Depot; granddaughter, Cindy Croft and husband Terry; grandson, Jim Kline; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Harsch (Mike), Lauren Shooltz (Evan) and Brittany Kline; great-great-granddaughter, Eden.
