Cheryl Lynn Grant, 59, of Harrisville, passed away peacefully at McKay-Dee Hospital on March 16, 2018, following a brave battle against lung cancer.
The third child of John Dennis and Mildred Jaunita (Dickey) Grant, Cheryl was born July 8, 1958 in Long Beach, California. Early on her family moved to Ogden and Cheryl was raised here until her teen years when they returned to Southern California. It was there that she completed her schooling, graduating from Lawndale High School Class of 1976.
Cheryl raised her three children in Southern California, returning to Utah in 1989 and settling in Clearfield. She was a hard worker – she served as manager at a trailer park, several motels, and a cab company before beginning her career at Fresenius Medical Care. She worked as a process preparation technician and medically retired in 2017.
Cheryl loved making blankets, shopping for bargains, and nurturing her family and friends. She treasured sleepovers with her nine wonderful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Cheryl had many great qualities – in addition to being loving, kind, generous, patient, and having an incredible work ethic, she was very brave. She has left a legacy of love for her family to follow. Cheryl will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her best.
Cheryl is survived by her mother, Mildred Tucker, Clearield; three children, Bambi R. Nelson and Manley R. Nelson, both of Ogden, and Nickole (Billy) Cower, of Harrisville; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; six siblings, Danny Payne, Milan, IL, Dennis (Nancy) Grant, Anchorage, AK, Robert Grant, Clearfield, Tammy (Walt) Stuart, Ogden, Eddie (Bernie) Payne, West Point, and Twila (Raymond) Winkler, Salem, OR; and by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Cheryl in death are her father, John, life partner, Ronnie A. Nelson, and sister-in-law, Debbie Payne.
At her request, only private memorial services are being held for her family, who wish to thank the dedicated nurses and staff of McKay-Dee Hospital for their compassionate care.
Cremation arrangements are in care of Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
