SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT. - Rita Marie (Wheel) Holmes, age 80, of 5 Elizabeth Street in South Burlington, passed away on Friday, March 16th 2018.
Rita was born on March 20th 1937 in Burlington, Vt., she was the daughter of Arthur Joseph and Rose Anna (Therrien) Wheel.
She married the love of her life; David McHugh Holmes on May 13th 1961 in Burlington, Vermont.
After graduating from Burlington High School, Rita worked for the Bell Telephone Company until she started raising her family of four children.
Some of her favorite pastimes included playing cards, Bingo, and playing the slot machines at the casino. And of course, watching her favorite team, the New York Yankees.
Rita was predeceased by one daughter; Karen Elizabeth (Holmes) Cabral on October 12th 1987, her parents; her father Arthur Wheel in 1975 and her mother Rose Wheel in 1957, two sisters; Paulita Marie (Wheel) Desjardin on May 18th 1995 and Gertrude Mary Wheel on October 9th 1919, and four brothers; Ralph Joseph Wheel on March 31st 2017, Leonard Joseph Wheel on July 12th 1987, Norman Joseph Wheel on March 2nd 1975, and Clifford Joseph Wheel on October 5th 1986.
