Marilyn Kay Denton was the fourth child and only daughter born to Teddy Roosevelt Denton and Hazel Irene Denton. She was born in Dallas, Oregon, on June 24th, 1950. She was preceded in birth by three brothers. The Denton family moved often due to Teddy's work as a Head Lumber Sawyer, and this established a close family bond that has always endured. Marilyn attended Beauty College in 1968 with her cousin Linda in Talihina, Oklahoma. It was while she was attending the Beauty College that she met Bobby Ray Simmons. Shortly after graduation, Marilyn and Bobby married. They remained married for forty-nine years until the day of her death. While raising two children and caring for her husband, Marilyn also worked as a beautician out of her own home. She always endeavored to make every client as beautiful as possible. Marilyn was a dedicated member of St. Catherine's of Sienna Catholic Church in Talihina, Oklahoma for over forty years. Both Melissa and Brian were baptized at St. Catherine's, and all of Marilyn 's grandchildren were baptized into the Catholic faith. Marilyn received her true calling as a 'Gramma' when her first grandchild was born. Marilyn Simmons was known for her kindness and willingness to have fun. Any given day could end in adventure - be it swimming and fishing at Billy Creek or sitting two rows from the court watching her beloved Oklahoma City Thunder play. All her grandchildren would agree that there could be no better grandmother in existence. As a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, friend - she loved and was loved in a way that words cannot accurately describe. She believed in loving the Lord, practicing the Catholic faith, working hard, having a good time, and that loyalty to family is the most important aspect in the character of a person.
