He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, class of 1973. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers for thirty years. Among his military awards and decorations was the Legion of Merit. Following his military retirement in 2003, he worked as the Associate Director of Project Management at the University of Texas at Austin until retirement in 2016.
He was predeceased by his father, George William DeBow. He was survived by his mother; his wife of 43 years; two daughters; a son and his spouse; a son-in-law; five grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation was held at Thomason Funeral Home, San Marcos, TX, on Friday, March 16, 2018. A celebration of life service was held at Three Rivers Community Church, Martindale, TX, on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
Interment on March 29, 2018.
