Chester Thompson, Sr., 88 of Odum died Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. The Wayne County native was a member of Odum Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He enjoyed working with horses, fishing and growing produce. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Lola Ammons Thompson and a sister, Oliff Harrison.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Burnette Thompson of Odum; a daughter, Patricia (Donald) Blanton of Jesup; a son, Chester (Shanda) Thompson, Jr. of Odum; two sisters, Onnie Osborne and Olene Moody Lewis, both of Jesup; 6 grandchildren, Daphne Gest, Chessica (Michael) O’Banion, Richard (Nikki) Thompson, Steve (Monica) Madray, Sierra Blanton and Jasper Blanton; 7 great grandchildren, Clayton Gest, Weston Gest, Chrissie O’Banion, Mariana O’Banion, Erica Osborne, Alexis Osborne, Remington Harris; a great-great granddaughter, Brailee Gest; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Carl Ledbetter and Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Odum City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his family. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
