Minnie Cathryn was born June 8, 1936, in Stokes County, NC, to the late Norman "Pete" W., and Clarice Bolejack Rutledge.
Minnie Cathryn was a lifelong resident of Germanton, but spent her last year as a resident of The Crest of Clemmons.
She was a member of Corinth Church of Christ and was retired from Guardian Care in Walnut Cove.
Her loving family was her main focus, and she enjoyed going out to eat and sharing a meal with them whenever she could. She loved to cook and care for her family, and enjoyed watching soap operas, police shows, basketball, and NASCAR. She enjoyed taking day trips to the mountains, especially to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and watching her grandson's ball games.
Minnie Cathryn had a home daycare where she helped take care of several children, whom she loved as her own.
In addition to her parents, Minnie Cathryn is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Mack Donald Bennett.
She is survived by 2 children: Pamela Thomas (Brian), and Chris Bennett; 2 sisters: Hilda Duncan (Jackie), and Carolyn Rutledge; and 1 grandson, Bennett Charles Thomas. He was the light of her life and she called him "my sweetheart."
There will be a 2 pm funeral service Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Corinth Church of Christ with Minister Jim Springer officiating. Burial will follow at the Corinth Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, March 16, 2018, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Crest of Clemmons, Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston-Salem, and all those who helped care for her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corinth Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 2784 South Friendship Road Germanton, NC 27019.
