Timothy William Blackburn

Timothy William Blackburn, from Pleasant View, UT, endured a heroic three-and-a-half-year battle against pancreatic cancer. He never quit. He fought to the very end but passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the age of seventy-one.

Tim was a hero to his family and the ultimate example of optimistic living, no matter how dark the circumstance. He was born in Ogden, UT to parents Thelma Rufrano and Finley W. Blackburn. He married Janette M. Woodhouse on September 12, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Together Jan and Tim had three children: Lisa (Richard) Marker, Lindsay (Chris) Sandberg and Jeffrey W. Blackburn. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Ellie, Grant, James and Bennett Marker; Jackson, Gavin and Edie Felt; Ellis Sandberg and Sydney Blackburn.

Tim graduated from Ogden High School, Weber State University (BS-Economics), University of Utah (Juris Doctorate). Tim had a distinguished career as an attorney in Utah starting as an Ogden City Prosecutor, then at Browning, Blackburn and Baldwin, and retired as a Senior Partner at Vancott Bagley Cornwall and McCarthy.

Tim was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life, serving in various callings including a two-year mission to the Great Lakes Mission.

Tim triumphed in life because of his meekness, humility and patience—truly a man with no guile. His family and friends adored him and his life was marked by silent acts of charity, donations and kindnesses about which he, and the Lord alone, knew.

Tim worked his heart out every day but lived for adventure which included hunting trips on tall mountains, fishing excursions on remote rivers and skiing the best snow on earth whenever he could. Tim was an avid sports fan and loved following BYU football, Jazz basketball and SF Giants baseball.

Tim’s mark on the world will never be erased. He was a giant of a man in every sense of the word. Tim will be missed, but not missing. We look forward to a happy future reunion under the hand of God.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Pleasant View Stake Center, 2979 North 1000 West, Pleasant View. Visitations will be held at the church on Tuesday, March 20th from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 am. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
