Reba "Darlene" King, 74, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Golden Living Center.

She was born October 2, 1943, in Kokomo to Virgil and Irene McCoy, both deceased.

She attended Kokomo Schools, then was a stay-at-home mother and enjoyed being a scout leader for her children. After her children grew up, she went back to school to obtain her nursing degree, earning straight A's. She worked as a LPN in several states until her retirement. Her talent and joy was working with ill children. She was also an avid video poker player and enjoyed Las Vegas. Her final trip was shortly before her death, with her son and daughter-in-law, during which she won big and said it was the best trip of her life!

Darlene is survived by daughters, Kim Hall, Kokomo, and Theresa Settles, Arizona, and son Ernie (Amy) Hurst, Kokomo. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Shelby Hall, Tara Carlile, Josh Howard, Bryndon Howard, Jessyka (Donny) Betzner, and Jenni (Angel) Harner, and one great-grandchild, Chloe Harner.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Ernest Hurst Sr. and Edward King; and daughter, Brenda Howard.

Per Darlene's request, no funeral service is planned. Burial will follow cremation at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Darlene's honor to SouthernCare Hospice Services (www.http://southerncarehospice.com/donate).
