Sabrina Gail Collins

Sabrina Gail Collins was born on August 5,1976, in Houston and is the daughter of the late Andrew C. Collins Jr. and Willie Cassandra Collins.

She accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized and united with First St. Mark Baptist Church, Rev. R.J. Revels, Pastor.

She was a graduate of M.B. Smiley High School in 1996, and attended Houston Community College and majored in business administration. Sabrina later joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.

Sabrina was employed by Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority (MHMRA), with Harris County. She loved to knit, and enjoyed her electronics and music in her pastime; but Sabrina had a true and devoted passion for reading that she wanted to share with others. In her efforts to do so, and one of her many accomplishments, she was the founder of MHMRA's book club.

She is preceded in death by her father, Andrew C. Collins Jr.; grandparents, Rev. Andrew C. Collins Sr., and Mrs. Annie Meyers and Mr. Lawrence and Mrs. Irene McAfee; aunts and uncles, McKinley Christal Jr., Ida Mae Whitaker, Esther Nobles, Annie Richardson, Neotha Collins, and George Collins.

Sabrina leaves to mourn her passing, yet celebrate her memory; her mother, Willie "Cassandra" Collins; aunts and uncles, Melvia (Derick) Hunter, Eddie (Adrian) Muse, Mary Christal, Joskie Shropshire, Lula Collins and Sarah Collins. She further leaves to mourn her dearest and best friend of 25 years, Shoranda Shante' (Richard) Paley; and a god daughter that she loved dearly, Valerie Denise Paley. Sabrina leaves to mourn a host of cousins, coworkers Martin Walker II, Teri Walker-Cartwright and Kanika Anglin and close friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at Riceville Mt. Oliver Baptist Church with Sis. Nina F. Williams officiating.

Interment followed at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland.

Pallbearers were Terrance Rogers, Byron Johnson II, Christopher Tolson Jr., Delroy Hunter, Brandon Johnson, and Sean Collins.

Honorary pallbearers were Derick Hunter, Bryn Johnson Sr., Albert Williams, Melvin Green, Joskie Shropshire, McKinley Christal III, Bertram Christal, and Adrian Muse.
