SPECIAL RANGER

Robert Joachim Eckhardt was born in November 1869, in Yorktown, DeWitt County, Texas, to Robert Christian Eckhardt and Caroline Louise Kleberg. Robert stood 5ft. 10 1/2 in. tall, had gray eyes, blonde hair and a fair complexion. He was married to his first wife, Zula Mumford on December 28, 1892. They had one daughter, Dorothy, He married his second wife, Ruby Carolea Henderson in about 1905. They had two daughters, Elizabeth and Henrietta. Robert was a farmer and president of the First State Bank and Trust Company in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas. Robert enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on June 29, 1918 thru January 14, 1919. He then was Chief Clerk, Texas Highway Department in Taylor. He again enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on May 22, 1926 thru February 1, 1927. He was discharged on February 9, 1927 as his Warrant Auhority had expired. Robert was a nephew to R. J. Kleberg, manager of the King Ranch. In 1926, he was commissioned by order of the governor. Robert Joachim Eckhardt died December 5, 1930, in Williamson County, Texas. He was buried in Taylor Cemetery.
