John Ronald Ratliff, of Paducah, TX passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Baylor, Scott, & White Centennial Hospital in Frisco, TX. He was 72. John was the eldest child born to J.P. and Mary Blanche Summers Ratliff on June 18, 1945 in Paducah, TX. Preceded in death by his father and mother, John is survived in his immediate family by his brother, Dennis Ratliff and wife, Toni of Paducah, TX.



John attended Guthrie schools and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1963. He attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history. In 1975 John married Diana (Hindman), and together they had 3 children, Justin, Kevin, and Ashley. John farmed cotton for much of his early life until he served as a correctional office for the Texas Department of Corrections in later years until his retirement. He and Diana were lifelong residents of Paducah.



John loved to laugh and spend time with his family. Ratliff family reunions were a joy of his as he reminisced with his many cousins and relatives. In his spare time, John loved history and traveling. He and Diana journeyed to many parts of the country in order to ride trains through beautiful scenery. He also served as a member of the Guthrie Lions Club, Paducah City Council, and Paducah ISD School Board.



John is survived by his wife, Diana, of Paducah; his son, Justin Ratliff and wife Amanda of North Richland Hills, TX; his son, Kevin Ratliff and wife Kari of Little Elm, TX; and his daughter Ashley Gray and husband Sean of Aubrey, TX; as well as four grandsons; Kaden, Kameron, Nathan, and Jase. Additionally, he has a granddaughter due to be born in July.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Sunday March 18, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Paducah, TX followed by interment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm. Saturday March 17th at Zapata Funeral Home.
