Funeral Service for Karen Lynn Farmer, Wo waun yunsila win a Lakota spirit name meaning woman with compassion, 55, of Agency Village, SD will be held on Monday March 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with Rev. Danelle McKinney, Rev. Ronald McKinney, Rev. Steven Farmer Sr., Jr. Heminger and JC Crawford officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl with special music by Jackie Bird, Jaylee Crawford, James four daughters and Donelle and Rogene. The Drum Group will be family. Pallbearers will be Steven Anthony Farmer Jr., Kevin Lee Farmer, Stacy Arlington Farmer, Samuel Alden Farmer Sr., Mongecha Eastman Farmer, Aaron Farmer, Ashton Farmer, Matthew Goodsell, Ryan German and Sam Shepherd. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Karen's cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Interment will be in the Goodwill Presbyterian Cemetery, Agency Village, SD. Wake services will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center, Agency Village, SD starting at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 and Sunday, March 18, 2018 all night. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Karen Lynn Farmer was born on January 2, 1963 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Steven A. Farmer Sr. and Kay (Crawford) Bursheim. She was the 2nd of 7 children. She was baptized at Goodwill Presbyterian Church where she became an active member. Karen grew up in various places due to her father being a pastor and serving different areas. She and Kevin graduated in 1982 from Sisseton High School. Then went on to two years of college at the Cook Christian Bible School in Tamo, AZ and Cosmetology school in Rapid City, SD and graduated from Lake Area Votech Institute of Watertown, SD. During her working years she worked at Tiospa Zina Tribal School and the Dakota Magic Casino as a cook. She lived with Kenny and Kay had helped them with their healthcare and later became disabled.

Karen has three sons David Anthony Farmer, Jesse James Harwood and Dallas Lee Farmer and two step sons A.J. Anthony and Bradford Grant. She was very active and proud in going to all of their sports activities as they were growing up. She was on cloud nine when her son David in his first year of wrestling won the State Championship Title.

Karen was active in basket ball and track in her school years, enjoyed playing softball, was a traditional dancer, loved to bead, play bingo, volleyball, loved camping, cooking and feeding people. She was very active in her church and held office in stewardship and promotion. She was the family organizer of Special Events and a chef that blessed us with good food.

Karen is survived by her parents, Kay LaFaun (Crawford) Farmer Bursheim and Steven Arlington Farmer Sr. of Agency Village, SD; Son, Jesse James Harwood of Agency Village, SD, A.J and Bradford Grant of Macy, NE; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Anthony and Michelle Farmer Jr. (Jody) of Watertown, SD, Kevin Lee Farmer of Agency Village, SD, Stacy Arlington Farmer of Rosebud, SD, Samuel Elden Farmer Sr. of Agency Village, SD and Kenneth Bursheim and sisters, Lisa Kay Farmer and Ramona Stately of Shakopee, MN, Donna Bursheim, Donita Goodsell and Devon Bursheim; Her grandchildren Tate, Mahpiya, Mongecha and Tukan Eastman, Michael Julian Joseph, Joel Ray Farmer and Nathan L. Renville; great-granddaughters, WoweCa ke Eastman Camp and Emmalyn Nola Barse and hunka children.

Karen was preceded in death by one daughter Baby girl Farmer and one son Little Deer; two sons, David Anthony Farmer and Dallas Lee Farmer; one brother Leslie Kyle Farmer and Grandparents Edward James Crawford Sr. WWI Vet, Jeanette Kitto, Lee Freemont Farmer WWII Vet, Louise Eastman Farmer and Stepfather Kenneth DeWayne Bursheim Sr.
