Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Amalia Baca (nee Valencia), father, Efren Baca, his brother, Joe and several aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Dyanna Wilson, Alycia Baca and Ingrid Córdova. Also left behind to love and remember are his grandchildren, Jacquelyn Wilson-Jones, Dr. Zachary Wilson (Mandi), Ricky Harrison, Amber Córdova-Yates (Mike), Jacob Córdova, Tyler Fenske and Angela Kissinger, great-grandchildren, Justyn Jones and his fiancée, Bryanna Rosales, Paityn Jones, Elijah Harrison, Bailey Yates, Landon Córdova, Faith Córdova, Adelynn Yates, Karsyn Yates and a great-granddaughter due in June. Also surviving are sisters, Helen García, Sara Torrez, Theresa Lucero, Florence Ortiz and Eileen Hernández, brothers, Tony Baca, Richard Baca, Gilbert Baca and Randy Baca and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie was born on July 12, 1926 and grew up in Albuquerque where he graduated from Albuquerque High School and played on the All Star Basketball Team.
Charlie joined the United States Navy as a young man and serviced during the Korean Conflict.
As a man who loved his country, he traveled with Bob Hope on a USO Tour in the South Pacific-where he was able to do what he loved most, sing and entertain our troops. Charlie starred in numerous productions with ALCOA-Albuquerque Little Theater and Pope Joy at UNM. Later, he starred in several Disney films "Mustang" and "Showdown" to name a couple.
Charlie retired from the Albuquerque Fire Department as Chief at Kirtland Air Force Base. After retirement, he was free to pursue his passion. Charlie sang at several locate establishments - Eddie's Inferno, The Four Seasons Clarion and lately, up until February of 2018, Nick & Jimmy's on Wednesday nights with Freddie Chavéz and every Sunday at Varessie in Santa Fé with Doug Montgomery for over 30 years.
Charlie loved his fans and their love for him has been evident and awe inspiring. Charlie wanted them all to join us in celebrating his life - A life well lived.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Riverside Funeral Home, 209 San Mateo Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, NM. Service will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
