Ollie Belle Proffitt Cavender, 95, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1999, at her home.
Viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1903, in Jackson Hill, Ind. She grew up in rural Indiana and at the age of nine joined the rest of her family working at Dillions Chocolate Factory.
She joined the Salvation Army and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, to become an officer. She graduated as a lieutenant, serving the needy through the Depression. On Nov. 13, 1935, she married Kneal LeRoy Cavender. In 1956, she moved to California, where she worked in sales until retiring.
In 1977 she moved to Cave Junction. In 1987 she moved to Rogue River and in 1994 she moved to Grants Pass to live with her daughter and granddaughter.
While in Cave Junction, she was active in her church and the Women's Club. In Rogue River, she helped local seniors and church groups.
Survivors include a son, Earl L. Cavender of North Salem, Ind.; a daughter, Martha R. "Marty" Bleeker of Grants Pass; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
