Virginia Higgins

Marysvale, Utah

Virginia Rose Howes Higgins, 84, of Marysvale passed away March 14, 2018 in Richfield. She was born on October 7, 1933 in Marysvale to Delbert and Roseanna Hamel Howes. She married Arden M. "Tommy" Higgins on August 15, 1952 in Richfield. Together, they had three children: Brenda (Douglas) Allan, Marysvale; Terry (Deanna) Higgins, Circleville; and Shauna (Dale) Bagley, Marysvale. Tommy passed away August 23, 2004.

Virginia was raised in Marysvale and graduated from Marysvale High School. During her senior year, she met the love of her life, Tommy. Shortly after graduation they were married. Except for three years when they moved to California, she spent her entire life in Marysvale, the town she loved.

Virginia loved playing cards, especially with her Rook Club, going on picnics, taking trips to Mesquite, and spending time with her family. She was also a proud member of her "Neighborhood Watch", taking care of her friends and neighbors plus every stray cat that found its way to her house. She had a love for animals, especially cats.

She was a faithful visiting teacher for the LDS Church and would spend countless hours visiting each sister. She was an immaculate housekeeper and a marvelous cook and took pride in her home and preparing meals for family and friends.

Her greatest love, however, was her family and everyone knew it. She was proud of each and every one of them and their accomplishments. She missed Tommy deeply and spent the last thirteen years mourning his death. What a happy reunion they are having!

In addition to her children, Virginia is survived by a brother, Carl (Sylvia) Howes; a sister-in-law, Donna (Oliver) Falkenborg; 13 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also preceded in death by two sisters: LaPreal (Grant) Nielsen, Helen (Darwin) Dennis, (Everett) Hadley; and a brother, Leon "Tony" (DeVere) Howes.

As a family, we express our sincere appreciation to the staff and friends at Stonehenge for their compassionate care and friendship to our mother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Marysvale LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call from 9:00-10:30 am. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Marysvale. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
