A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Sunday, March 25, 2018, 1 – 4 PM at the East Union Lutheran Parish Hall, 15180 Co. Rd. 40, Carver, MN. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date.
Jack was born March 27, 1937 in Stewart, MN, to Dalton and Agnes (Novotny) Murphy, one of three children. He graduated from Chaska High School in 1955 and on May 2, 1964 he married Dorene Swanson at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Carver. He was proprietor of Murphy’s Automotive for 20 years and then was a truck driver retiring at age 62. He served as Dahlgren Township supervisor for 25 years. He loved Oldsmobiles, woodworking, building wood models and intarsia (wood) art.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom Murphy, sister, Janie Frisk, and sister-in-law, Bev Swanson; parents-in-law, Woodrow and Mabel Swanson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorene; children, Patrick (Sheri) of Carver, Cathi Murphy of Hamburg, Kelly (Paul) Reichert of McKinney, TX, Mike (Kelly) of Green Isle and Kevin (Nicole) of N.Y.A.; grandchildren, Jackie Murphy (fiancée, Ben Ziemer), Ashley Murphy, Marysa Murphy (fiancée, Jeremy Anderson), Mady, Hannah and Owen Murphy, Bailey and Max Reichert; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sharon Murphy of Little Falls, Clyde Frisk of Big Lake, Doug Swanson, Denny (Tracy) Swanson, Darrel (Barb) Swanson, Dianne (John) Lenzmeier; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
