Joan Elaine (Lawrence) Beck Smith, of Dublin, PA, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Twp., PA. She was at peace and surrounded with love and her family. She was 84.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dean C. Smith and the late Dennis O. Beck.

Born and raised in Doylestown, she was the daughter of the late Elmer J. and Daisy M. (Krauter) Lawrence.

Joan worked as a Q.C. Inspector for the Thomas & Betts Corporation, at its Doylestown and Montgomeryville, PA, locations, from 1969 until its closing in 1997. Then, she went back to school to obtain her GED as well as a certificate in clerical skills from Bucks County Community College in 1998.

She was a former member of the former St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Dublin.

An excellent cook, Joan particularly enjoyed cooking for her family. She was especially fond of traveling to the Jersey Shore, whether visiting the sandy beaches at Seaside Heights or playing the slot machines in Atlantic City. She loved to travel and enjoyed the sights of Mexico, Jamaica, and “left her heart” several times in San Francisco. Joan was loved by so many and made new friends wherever she went.

She is survived by four children, Douglas Beck, of Quakertown, PA, Brian J. Beck and his wife Sandi, of Dublin, PA, Edward B. Beck and his wife Karen, of Doylestown, PA, and Tammy Lee (Beck) Wilson and her boyfriend Nick L. Cals, of Quakertown, PA; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Karen Anne Bartlett, on January 20, 2018; her son-in-law, Karen’s husband, James E. Bartlett; and a brother, E. Kenneth Lawrence.

Her Funeral Services will be held at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Doylestown Cemetery, 215 E. Court Street, Doylestown, PA.
