Andrew Jackson Brown, Sr. was born 25 Jan 1823 Jasper County, Mississippi, the son of Wiley Brown 1803-41 and Elizabeth Cooley Brown 1804-1880, who married again--to Reddick Rogers 1787-1865.
Andrew named a son James Wiley Brown 1869-1923, supposedly for his father Wiley Brown.

Andrew married about 1845 to Mary Bounds. They had two children: John Alfred Brown 1846-1924 and Elbert L. Brown 1850-1910. Mary died about 1855.

Andrew married 19 Feb 1861 to Rebecca Josephine Smith 1841-1926. They had 11 children.

Andrew served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. His Compiled Military Record states:
